Ruby On Rails

So...... it's Tyler

I am sure a lot of you guys know that I do web development and graphic design. If you didn't know that I do this... here ya go... tylerdoddsdesign.com (new portfolio coming soon)

I recently took on this daunting task again because these "horrible" economic times have taken a toll on budgets around the country that bring me in to do events as a worship leader or as a performer. Randomly, I want to say that although I know many people have lost their jobs and that these times have taken a toll on my ministry and income...... we can't keep talking about the economy like we are all gonna die tomorrow. We should continue to live our lives and try to adjust when stuff comes our way.  We shouldn't go to bed stressed every night not resting in Shalom because we think the economy is going to fall on our heads tomorrow. Sometimes I feel like people think it's Y2K again. Oh! the joys of storing up can goods, water jugs, fire extinguishers, blankets, crackers, generators, large gas tanks in your back yard, an extra electric powered car, covered wagons (just in case we have to go back there), waterproof matches, pet food, etc, etc, etc, you get my drift?

Alright... sorry..... back to web design...
So..... working so hard on web / graphic design is difficult sometimes because I think my soul longs to make music. Although, I am VERY blessed to get to do web / graphic design, I think ultimately I want to save as much time as possible.
So this brings me to the topic of this post. Should I start developing on Ruby On Rails?

Ruby on Rails is a newer technology for deploying server side applications to the web. You have to use dramatically less code to accomplish a task because Ruby is built on a framework. I don't know a whole lot about it yet but I have been thinking a lot lately about moving my development skills to this technology.

So feel free to post your thoughts about Ruby On Rails..... (since I know everyone of you use it)

The next post that I do will give you a detailed update about what I discover in this new endeavor and how Ruby On Rails is working for me.

UPDATE:

Dear Tyler...

You lost most of us at rubies.

I'm so thankful that our Daddy owns cattle on a thousand hills.  And according to my last post... I'd be fine with covered wagons!

I love you like crazy!!!

Bailey

p.s. To our blog family... we'll talk on Monday!!
